Gender dan Sikap Bahasa Komunitas Bahasa Sunda Brebes (Gender and Language Attitudes of Brebes Sundanese Languange Communities)

Abstract


Bahasa Sunda Brebes merupakan salah satu bahasa daerah yang hidup di antara bahasa Jawa, bahasa Indonesia, dan bahasa internasional. Tulisan ini mengkaji sikap bahasa perempuan dan laki-laki Sunda Brebes terhadap bahasa Sunda Brebes. Hal ini penting dilakukan untuk mengungkap kedudukan bahasa Sunda Brebes  bagi penuturnya. Perempuan Sunda biasanya memilih bahasa yang menurut mereka “baikâ€. Penelitian sikap bahasa dari sisi gender ini untuk melihat sikap positif bahasa Sunda Brebes perempuan dan laki-laki pada bahasa Sunda Brebes. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Jumlah responden 400 orang. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa sikap bahasa laki-laki terhadap bahasa Sunda Brebes lebih positif daripada perempuan. Kecenderungan sikap bahasa laki-laki adalah positif tinggi, sedangkan perempuan adalah positif rendah. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan  sikap kaum perempuan Sunda Brebes yang kurang percaya diri dengan bahasa Sunda Brebes. Pengakuan dan pembinaan bahasa Sunda Brebes menjadi penting untuk mempertahankan keberadaan bahasa itu. 

 

Brebes Sundanese is one local among di existence of Javanese, Indonesian, and international language. This paper discussed the language attitudes of male and female Brebes Sundanese people to Brebes Sundanese language. This is necessary to make in revealing the position of Brebes  Sundanese language for its user. Females usually select "good" language. The research on language attitudes from gender side possibly see the positiveness of both males' and females' Brebes Sundanese language as Brebes Sundanese language users. This research used a quantitative approach with a total of 400 respondents. The research result showed that the males had more positive language attitudes than the females. The males' language attitudes tended to be high positive, while the females' tended to be low positive. These we're proven by the attitudes of female Brebes Sundanese people who we're less confident with their Brebes Sundanese language. Brebes Sundanese language acknowledgement and supervision are greatly required to maintain its existence.
